Squawk has no accounts, collects no personal data, and stores nothing about you on our servers.
When you hold the talk button, your voice is transmitted live over an encrypted connection (TLS) to the Squawk relay server, which forwards it to the other members of your channel and briefly buffers up to 30 seconds of the current transmission in memory so late joiners don't miss the start. Audio is never written to disk and never retained after the transmission ends.
A channel code and the call sign you type are held in the relay's memory only while the channel is in use, and are discarded when everyone leaves. Anyone who knows a channel code can join it and hear transmissions — share codes accordingly.
If you enable the optional translation feature, transcription of incoming transmissions happens on your device using Apple's Speech framework, and translation uses Apple's on-device Translation framework. Squawk does not send transmission content to any third-party service.
